Prof. Khalifa Al-Jabri is currently a Professor in Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University.

Prof. Al-Jabri obtained his BSc in Civil Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University in 1991 and MSc and PhD degrees from The University of Sheffield, UK in 1993 and 2000, respectively.  After obtaining the PhD, he joined the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering as an Assistant Professor and in 2006, he was promoted to an Associate Professor and appointed as the Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research in the College of Engineering.  In 2011, he was promoted to a Professor and appointed as the Head of the department of Civil and Architectural Engineering until September 2017.  He served as member in the State Council of Oman from 2011-2015.  He was ranked among World's top 2% influential scientists and researchers in the field of construction and building published by Stanford University in 2020 to 2022,. In 2022, he was awarded “The Order of Royal Commendation (2nd class)” by His Majesty Sultan of Oman 

In 2015, he received the Best Researcher’s Award from Sultan Qaboos University and He was elected as a Fellow member (FICE) of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK and Fellow member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), USA in 2018 and Oman Society of Engineers. He also received the pioneer Engineer’s award from the Gulf Union of Engineers in 2017. He is member of trustees of the Arab Commission for Accreditation of Engineering and Technology as well as chairman of the Education Committee in the Federation of Arab Engineers.

His research interest is focusing on three areas: 1) studying the behavior of materials and structures at elevated temperatures, 2) Investigating the potential use of waste materials and industrial by-products in civil engineering application, 3) Seismic hazard assessment of Oman.  4)

Use of sustainable construction materials 

Prof. Al-Jabri has published more than 200  articles in well-refereed journals, conferences and technical reports.  He served as principal investigator and researcher in more than 31 research grants and consultancy projects.  He is member in the editorial board and reviewer in 6 and 47 scientific journals, respectively.  He supervised a number of postgraduate students and served as an external examiner for a number of MSc and PhD students locally and internationally.  He attended many international conferences and he was invited as a keynote and invited speaker to many conferences and workshops.  He organized and was member in the organizing and scientific committees of many local and international conferences.  He evaluated many academic promotion cases, research grants, academic programs for some academic institution locally and internationally.  He served as chair and member in many committees in the University and national levels.  

His outstanding scientific achievements have been reflected on the number of citations and the h-index which reached around 4000 citations (with h-index of 32) in google scholar and more than 2700 citations (with h-index of 29) in Scopus index.  Some of his articles that published in the Journal of Constructional Steel Research were among the top 25 of the most cited articles. 

حصل البروفيسور خليفة بن سيف الجابري على درجة البكالوريوس في الهندسة المدنية من جامعة السلطان قابوس عام 1991م، ضمن الدفعة الأولى من خريجي كلية الهندسة ,وعُين كمعيد بقسم الهندسة المدنية، ودرجتي الماجستير والدكتوراه من جامعة شَفيلد بالمملكة المتحدة في عامي 1993م و 2000م. بعد حصوله على الدكتوراه ، التحق بقسم الهندسة المدنية والمعمارية كأستاذ مساعد وفي عام2006م تمت ترقيته إلى أستاذ مشارك وعين مساعد العميد للدراسات العليا والبحوث في كلية الهندسة. في عام 2011 ، تمت ترقيته إلى درجة أستاذ وعُين رئيسًا لقسم الهندسة المدنية والمعمارية حتى سبتمبر 2017. شغل منصب عضو في مجلس الدولة  من 2011-2015. صنف ضمن ٢٪؜ من العلماء والباحثين على مستوى العالم في مجال البناء والتشييد على حسب تصنيف جامعة ستانفورد الامريكية العريقة في عام ٢٠٢٠-٢٠٢٢م. كما حصل في عام ٢٠٢٢م على وسام الاشادة السلطانية (الدرجة الثانية) من لدن المقام السامي لحضرة صاحب الجلالة سلطان عمان نتيجة لجهوده المتميزة في مجال البحث العلمي.

في عام 2015 ، حصل على جائزة أفضل باحث من جامعة السلطان قابوس وانتخب كعضو زميل(FICE)  في معهد المهندسين المدنيين (ICE) بالمملكة المتحدة وعضو زميل في الجمعية الأمريكية للمهندسين المدنيي (ASCE) ، الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في عام 2018 ودرجة استشاري يجمعية المهندسين العمانية. كما حصل على جائزة المهندسين الرواد من اتحاد المهندسين الخليجيين في عام 2017. كما انه مؤسس وعضو في مجلس امناء الهيئة العريبة للاعتماد الهندسي والتكنولوجي ورئيس لجنة التعليم بإتحاد المهندسين العرب ورئيس مجلس التصنيف بجمعية المهندسين العمانية.

يتركز اهتمامه البحثي على ثلاثة مجالات: 1) دراسة سلوك المواد والمنشأت في درجات حرارة مرتفعة ، 2) استخدام  النفايات والمنتجات الثانوية الصناعية كمواد انشائية مستدامة في تطبيقات الهندسة المدنية، 3) تقييم المخاطر الزلزالية في عمان وهندسة الزلازل  و 4) دراسة الاستخدام المستدام لمواد البناء

نشر الأستاذ الجابري أكثر من 200 بحثًا في مجلات علمية محكمة، ومؤتمرات وتقارير فنية. شغل منصب الباحث الرئيسي والباحث في حوالي 31 منحة بحثية ومشروع استشاري. وهو عضو في هيئة التحرير ومراجع في 7 و 52 مجلة علمية على التوالي. أشرف على عدد من طلاب الدراسات العليا وممتحنًا خارجيًا لعدد من طلاب الماجستير والدكتوراه محليًا ودوليًا. حضر العديد من المؤتمرات الدولية وتمت دعوته كمتحدث رئيسي في العديد من المؤتمرات وورش العمل. رئيس وعضو في اللجان التنظيمية والعلمية للعديد من المؤتمرات المحلية والدولية. قام بتقييم العديد من حالات الترقية الأكاديمية والمنح البحثية والبرامج الأكاديمية لبعض المؤسسات الأكاديمية محليًا ودوليًا. شغل منصب رئيس وعضو في العديد من اللجان على مستوى الجامعة والمستوى الوطني.

انعكست إنجازاته العلمية البارزة على عدد الاستشهادات ومؤشر h الذي وصل إلى حوالي 4000 استشهاداً مع مؤشر h-35 في جوجل سكولار google scholar وأكثر من 2700 اقتباس مع مؤشر h-30 في قاعدة سكوبس  Scopus. كانت بعض مقالاته التي نُشرت في مجلة أبحاث الفولاذ الإنشائية من بين أفضل 25 مقالة تم الاستشهاد بها.
